Woman sexually assaulted on Sussex University campus
A 20-year-old woman was sexually assaulted outside student flats at Sussex University’s Falmer campus this morning. (Tuesday 21 February).
She said that a man pushed her to the ground near Lewes Court and sexually assaulted her before running off.
She called Sussex Police at about 4.40am to say that she had been attacked as she walked through the university grounds a couple of hours earlier.
He was described as a 6ft 1in tall white man with fair hair and facial hair and aged in his mid twenties.
Detective Inspector Ian Still, of Brighton and Hove CID, said: “This investigation is in its early stages and we are currently working with the victim to establish an account of exactly what happened.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area in the early hours of this morning and may have heard anything or saw anyone acting suspiciously.”
Sussex Police said that a scene guard was in place at the university.
