Howard Marks – Mr Nice
Renowned drug dealer, farmer, smuggler, convict, Oxbridge graduate and latter day author, Howard Marks held forth sharing stories and opinions on his times, struggles and victories in dulcet tones straight from the valleys with charm and the smile of the cat who always knew he’d get the cream. The first half of the show focused chiefly on his autobiographical notes and a set piece in praise of tobacco, accompanied by a slide show I can’t say I was too impressed with but Marks’ audience lapped up. The second half covered the launch of his new fiction-writing career – which proved engaging – and an enlightening Q&A session. A mostly fascinating rogue.
