Rosie Wilby – Rosie’s Pop Diary
Part storytelling, part poetry, part music show – this was a meeting of genres by Rosie Wilby, who has carved out careers for herself over the years both as a musician and as a comic. Not so much a comedy show or straight music concert, this was more a charming autobiographical journey through the 1990s with Rosie’s relationships and musical career taking centre stage, stopping along the way for a song or an anecdote. She has a warm, rich singing voice that pulls you into it like a favourite blanket, but although her persona and tales were likeable the point behind the show didn’t seem evident, with purpose and laughter scattered randomly throughout rather than proving a driving force.
