Well done at burger bar for Brighton fire crews

Fire crews dealt with two fires in the Brighton area yesterday (Sunday 26 February).

Two crews were sent to McDonald’s burger bar in Western Road, Brighton, shortly before 4pm after a commercial fat fryer caught fire.

The fire was brought under control quickly and the job was finished in just under half an hour.

Earlier a crew from Roedean and another from Newhaven put out a kitchen fire in Grassmere Aveue, Telscombe Cliffs.

Eleven firefighters tackled the blaze in the early hours of yesterday.

The fire, reported shortly before 3.30am, was traced to the oven.

An elderly lady living at the property was treated at the scene by paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.”
