Cabbie pulls man from burning car in Brighton

A taxi driver rescued an elderly man from a burning car in Brighton in the early hours of yesterday morning (Tuesday 6 March).

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that the passing cabbie pulled the man to safety from his vehicle at about 1.30am.

Firefighters from Preston Circus in Brighton arrived shortly afterwards and used foam as they quickly tackled the blaze in Ashurst Road in Moulsecoomb.

Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service treated the elderly man at the scene. As a precaution he was then taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

The fire is believed to have started accidentally.
