Music: Band Of Skulls

Despite achieving worldwide success with their debut album, Band Of Skulls are yet to replicate it here in their homeland, but on the evidence of this performance it’s only a matter of time. The Southampton trio have clearly been emboldened by international acclaim, and they owned the Concorde 2 stage like seasoned rock gods from start to finish. Their set effortlessly ploughed the line between heavenly beauty and the deepest, darkest depths of hell, sounding inventively fresh and comfortingly familiar at the same time. The tight fusion of thunderous riffs, pounding drums, sweet melodies and good old fashioned blues was executed perfectly throughout, as the band demonstrated that they are more than ready to take a seat at the top table of British rock.
