Comedy: Norman Lovett
What a delightful slice of stand-up from Norman Lovett. He used old jokes, new jokes, props, magic and a lovely gentle humour that seemed preciously rare. Norman Lovett is 65 years old and he’s been doing stand-up for 33 years. There was no need for him to “make it bigger” in this intimate space: a remark about the lights was enough to crack everyone up. There was a simple but brilliant joke to a lady heckler from Leeds, and he treated the audience with a respect that frankly they didn’t deserve. A brilliant and subtle performance. Four stars (one off for the audience, which doesn’t seem fair but what do you expect in a room that’s like Come Dine with Me)
