Mother’s joy

- March 8, 2012

We love our mums. From stylish working mums Victoria Beckham and Angelina Jolie, to new mum Beyonce and second-time mum Amanda Holden, these ladies show us that women can be successful in their careers while keeping a strong hold on family life too. Juggling work, rest and play, our mums do it all. Gratitude and thanks should be shown throughout the year, but when life just happens, and things are too hectic, Mother’s Day (Sunday 18 March) is there as a reminder to show your mum how much she is cared for.

This Mother’s Day, why not go one step further and help mums around the world by supporting Maternity Worldwide? By donating money to the local charity, you will be ensuring a safe birth for mums in some of the poorest countries in the world, where survival during childbirth is only one in 16. A certificate will be sent to your mum this Mother’s Day, showing how you have helped to save a new mum across the globe.

In Brighton, there are plenty of Mother’s Day ideas to make her truly special. Instead of taking her out for a meal, why not bring dinner to her? Carluccio’s fabulous hampers treat Mum to a luxury meal without her having to lift a finger, and all in the comfort of her own home (there’s also some delicious chocolates in the hamper for an after-dinner treat!).

For mums who love to relax and be pampered, The Treatment Rooms,?Enzo and the Uniquely Organic EcoSpa offer some great therapies to take advantage of. If a jewellery keepsake will make the perfect Mother’s Day gift, then check out local work from Alexis Dove in Lewes. Unique, affordable and stylish, it may be difficult to choose just the one piece!

Alongside these, we have gift ideas from The Perfume Shop, Next and Champneys. And if traditional flowers is the gift she will love, then head to Gunn’s Florists in Brighton for a personalised bouquet. It’s time to thank Mum and make her day!
