Pam Ayres
Pam Ayres’ diminutive figure came out to a packed Pavilion Theatre and from the moment she opened her mouth, the audience were in her thrall. She presented a mixture of crowd-pleasing greatest hits, new poems, anecdotes and readings from her autobiography. Pam, witty and charming with her distinctive rustic accent, delivers her punchlines beautifully. The humour is refreshingly inoffensive, almost an anachronism in today’s world, with a nostalgic warmth that really hits the spot. This show was like having a 2 hour cuddle in front of an open fire, perfect for a Sunday afternoon. And nobody can say the word “Kawasaki” like Pam.
