A revitalising yoga workout

Bethany Hinchliffe finds a great workout duo with yoga & Power Plates at Revitalise

With Revitalise in Hove proving such a success with clients, it’s not difficult to see why owners, Clare and Richard, decided to open another wellness centre in Brighton. Their friendly, professional and experienced therapists offer a wide range of treatments from massage to yoga. The venue is well equipped with several treatment rooms and classrooms, and being open seven days a week means it is always possible to make time for yourself, and what better environment to do it in? Having been lucky enough to have visited the new Revitalise centre in Brighton before, I knew to expect great things and my expectations were high when given the chance to try out a Power Plate and yoga class for the first time.

Upon arrival in the beginners’ yoga session I was immediately put at ease by my teacher, Daniel, who explained that the class would be a perfect introduction and not overly strenuous. Yoga practice at Revitalise consists of five key elements: proper breathing, proper exercise, proper relaxation, proper diet, plus positive thinking and meditation.

With Revitalise priding itself upon small class sizes and high levels of teacher interaction, it’s a great place to get started in a new exercise class, with one-on-one mentoring which is often not available in larger groups. After a complete hour of gentle to moderate exercise combined with relaxation techniques and breathing exercises,
I left the class feeling rejuvenated and definitely a yoga convert. As well as beginners’ yoga, Revitalise offers classes catering to all experience levels. Starting a new exercise regime has never seemed so accessible and enjoyable.

Another exciting class at Revitalise is the Power Plates, a popular workout with gym bunnies and beginners alike. These work great alongside a yoga course, helping to strengthen and tone while reducing stress and increasing fitness levels. With promises to deliver a full body work out in just half an hour it is perfect for anyone keen to achieve their desired results fast.

The beginners’ class I took part in involved a number of workouts which, combined with the vibrations of the Power Plate machine, worked to tone key problem areas. I could really feel the machine working and my teacher, Lynda, did a great job of improving my technique and approach. Intermediate and advanced classes are also available, with more vigorous exercise depending on the wants and needs of the individual. You can always be reassured though, that you will be with people who are of a similar level to you, maximising the benefits of your Power Plate class. Booking yourself into a new class at Revitalise could be the first step you take in achieving a new and healthier you.
