Brighton cyclist badly hurt in town centre crash

A cyclist was seriously hurt in a crash in the centre of Brighton yesterday evening (Wednesday 28 March).

Sussex Police said that the 53-year-old cyclist crashed into a lamp post at the southern end of West Street just before 6.30pm.

The man was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious head injuries. Sussex Police said that his injuries had not been assessed as life threatening.

No other vehicle or person was believed to have been involved.

A spokesman for Sussex Police: “There were witnesses but we would still like anyone else who saw what happened to call us via 101.”
