Celebcity with Jo Brooks: Sussex cakes sold on Virgin flights
Brian Harvey writes a song, celebs in the sun, Sussex cakes sold on Virgin flights, & Amy Childs
Amy Mania
Amy Childs embraced crying fans when she turned up at the Holmbush Centre recently to – yep you’ve guessed it – promote something from her long line of business ventures. Around 150 fans, most of them teens, were said to have turned up for the event to meet their ‘idol’. With Amy Child’s false eyelashes, her own brand of fake tan and a fashion line under her belt, we can only assume that she will have her own strain of the influenza virus next.
BRIAN’S GOT TALENT
East 17 star Brian Harvey has written a new song for an 11 year old from Newhaven. After being somewhat stalked by the young girl’s mum, a self-confessed superfan who claimed to know the singer ‘quite well’, Harvey agreed to write a song entitled ‘I Can’ for Morgan Smith. The song will take Morgan to the regional final of the national Live and Unsigned competition held in Hove. If she manages to wow the judges there it’ll be off to the 02 Arena to compete for a prize of £10,000 and a 100-show tour of the UK. Good luck to Morgan, and if she does win I hope Brian has a few more songs up his sleeve – I’m not sure just the one will cut it!
Spotted: Sunshine Special
The sun brought the stars out in Brighton! First off was Jay from The Inbetweeners with his missus and baby son on Bond Street. TV’s Jonathan Ross was spotted enjoying the seaside. He later tweeted: “It’s sunny in Brighton. Quite lovely” – quite!
Les Dennis in Subway. The less said about this the better. Nick Cave and his whole family, including his ex-supermodel wife Susie Bick, were seen dining at Moshi Moshi Brighton.
Chris Moyles jogging along the Brighton seafront for Sport Relief. Didn’t go quite as he’d hoped though; he tweeted a picture of him outside a shut up pier with the caption: “The plan was run 3 miles down the seafront, down the pier and back again. Think I set off too early.” Last but not least, canine stars Bruiser and Rufus of Legally Blonde – The Musical fame taking a much needed break in Pavilion Gardens. The famous mutts, one a Chihuahua and the other a good old English Bulldog, easily stole the show in the musical’s recent run at the Theatre Royal Brighton.
Airbourne cupcakes
The family run Sussex-based cupcake bakery, Indulgence Cupcake Company, is set to become something of a high-flyer now that Virgin Atlantic hasdecided to have them stocked on board their planes. Passengers can now pre-order a specially designed pack of the Sussex cupcakes to be delivered to their seat on boarding the aircraft from Virgin Atlantic’s retail therapy shopping website (www.retailtherapyshopping.com). Managing director, Jeremy Jacobs, said: “We are very excited that passengers will be able to celebrate a special occasion or trip with a box of our tasty cupcakes at 35,000 feet.” A right little flight of fancy!
