Popguns and Broken Star

The Popguns sold out reunion gig was a rousing affair, with the inspired addition of guest vocalist Kate Amanda on tracks such as Peel’s Festive Fifty charting, ‘ Landslide’. Wendy’s pure vocals soared against the driving guitars of Pickles and Dixon and Walkington’s dirty bass on ‘Gone’, showcasing their dark vs light sound in a hit filled set including a tender, acoustic version of ‘So Cold’. Supporting were Broken Star, a new five piece with double-barrelled vocals. Jilted John meets B52s, front women Lou and Ruth, worked as fuse and light, blowing up witty lyrics into ‘in yer face’ pop. Perfect.
