Brighton College Netball Team runners up in national finals

Brighton College under 14 Netball team has stormed to second place in a national competition

Named England’s Independent School of the Year 2011-2012, Brighton College is now celebrating further national success.

As one of the top 18 teams in the country, Brighton College’s Under 14 Netball team competed in the National Schools Netball Tournament recently, and stormed to second place.

After winning all eight of their group games, the girls were pitted against other top teams from around the country in the final stages of the competition, held in Basildon, Essex.

In a semi final victory over Broxbourne, where Brighton played with superb pace, finishing 12-8, the team continued their form, looking strong into the final.

Unfortunately, despite beating their opponents Saddleworth in the group stages with a score of 11-6, the local Under 14’s were unable to continue their winning streak. In a display of pace and stamina that Brighton could not compete with, the top team from the North West put in a performance that secured them a win with a close score of 12-10.

As the highly deserving runners-up, the team was congratulated by Assistant Head and Director of Sport at Brighton College, Roger Nicholson: “To be placed second in the country is a fantastic achievement. The girls played brilliantly and deserve nothing but the highest praise for their performance.”
