Bombay Bicycle Club
Opening with the words “can I wake you up?” from ‘How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep’, seemed most fitting as BBC appeared on stage surrounded by soft lighting, and bulbs positioned outlining the shapes of flowers. Both crowd and band synchronised energy, with singer Jack Steadman stating; “it feels like we’re playing a festival.”
The darkness of most recent album ‘A Different Kind of Fix’ contrasted as they switched to tracks from ‘Flaws’, a countrified album, which involved mightily-fun banjo skills. Support act Lucy Rose was on hand to harmonise and provide sweet vocals. Ending with ‘Always Like This’ and ‘Shuffle,’ BBC are definitely an enthusiastic and emotive band that sound even bigger and better live than on their recordings.
