Hove and Portslade burglary suspects kept in custody

Three men accused of two burglaries in Hove and Portslade have been told that they will be held in prison while they await trial.

They were told yesterday (Friday 20 April) that they will be brought before a jury at Lewes Crown Court on Friday 6 July.

Robert Hooper, 51, of Downland Crescent in Hangleton, Tony Cooper, 19, of no fixed address, and Robert Cox, 26, also of Downland Crescent, face two charges of burglary.

The break-ins are alleged to have happened in Hamilton Close, Mile Oak, and Northease Drive, Hangleton.

They also face two counts of trying to burgle two other properties – in Hamilton Close and Wickhurst Rise, Portslade.

Cox has also been charged with driving without a licence or insurance and failing to stop after a collision on the Hangleton Link Road shortly after 5.15am on Thursday 19 April.

Brighton magistrates remanded all three men in custody.
