Brighton road closed after horses escape from field
A busy road into Brighton was closed after more than a dozen horses escaped from a field.
Sussex Police said that the southbound side of Ditchling Road was closed as the horses made their way along the road.
Officers also received reports that some of the horses were on Hollingbury Golf Course at about 1.25pm.
They are believed to have escaped from 39 Acres in Ditchling Road or the field next to it.
Several police units went to the area to try to steer the horses off the road and round them up.
Drivers were advised to use an alternative route during the escapade.
The horses – and drivers and pedestrians – were safe shortly after 2.15pm.
