Film: Marvel’s Avengers Assemble 3D (TBC)

Director: Joss Whedon

The one we’ve all been waiting for. The film that could answer all the school yard questions about who would win in a fight – Iron Man or Captain America. You got it – it’s The Avengers, in 3D, kicking four shades of manure out of the baddies and each other. Did they never watch Sesame Street the day it covered ‘co-operation’? It would appear not.

Anyway, the cantankerous superheroes gather (or ‘assemble’ if you’re inclined toward the title) together – listing Iron Man (Robert Downey Jnr), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) as the saviours of the human race when faced with the adversity of Thor’s old disgruntled step brother from space, Loki.

This is a veritable who’s who of superheroes and of movie stars in the cast list, plus with a snappy script from the chief purveyor of snap Joss Whedon – directed by Mr Whedon too. It not only ticks all the boxes to be a massive blockbuster, it creates a few of its own for good measure. Fabulous.

Released Thurs 26 April
Showing at Odeon and Cineworld
