Matt Whistler finds the next biggest trend
What makes a trend? In my early teens it was Sergio Tacchini, Kappa, Nike, Addidas and old skool Dunlop. This vast array of synthetic technicolour was shown off by either a white-knuckle skateboard ride holding onto the back of a milk van or break dancing on a spare piece of kitchen lino stolen from your dad’s garage.
Years later when it was more about the girls, Pringle jumpers and boating shoes came into play. Back then it was all about the labels, for the last 15 years, I really don’t have much of a clue, the last I heard shoes called crocks were in and I seem to remember Paris Hilton had put her denim shorts on a 90° degree wash and accidentally shrunk them to expose her inside pockets. I’ve been trying to start a new inside out range of T-shirt but only through lack of a.m caffeine.
I started the iPad – it was just a round piece of cotton wool from Boots. So what’s the next biggest thing? What about sleeveless jumpers or perhaps tank tops with sleeves?! Reversible specs with zip bag – it’s a done deal.
Nowadays a whistle and flute that slips on like a glove hits the mark. According to a Facebook fan Jarvis Cocker has stolen my look. Oh well, that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
