Guests evacuated as fire crews tackle blaze at Brighton seafront hotel

Guests were evacuated from a Brighton seafront hotel after fire broke out in the basement.

There were no reported injuries after the fire at the Holiday Inn in King’s Road, Brighton, late last night (Thursday 26 April).

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service received a call at about 11.20pm and sent two fire engines and an aerial ladder platform from Preston Circus, Brighton, and two fire engines from Hove.

Fire crews also came from Roedean in Brighton and from Shoreham.

The fire in an electrical intake room at sub-basement level was tackled with foam before crews used a positive pressure ventilation fan to disperse the smoke.
