Latest talks to creative agency Vivid Brighton

Vivid Brighton was launched back in 2005 as Vivid Design & Print. Since then, they have been keeping customers happy with a wide range of services that include graphic design, website design and print management. They are a small, helpful and approachable team with big ideas. For many clients Vivid has been a reliable source of quality printing as well as great design. Now they have moved their shop-based business to a studio and office on Grand Parade, Brighton. We asked company director Paul Jukes what had prompted the decision to move.
“After seven great years at the shop, it was time for a change,” says Paul. “We needed to move into a work space that would allow us to focus more on the variety of design and print services we offer. Customer demand for our brand and website development services prompted the need to find a work space to expand this side of the business.
“The only service no longer offered is the in-store photocopying facility. All other services remain and in fact, are now greatly improved due to our better work environment,” Paul continues. “We believe our logo, brand and website design services are now comparable to any of the best creative agencies, the difference with Vivid is that we are affordable and accessible to everyone.”
Vivid’s client range is extremely diverse. The team enjoy working with people and companies that offer interesting challenges. “Clients include local plumbers, shops and charities through to some of the largest global organisations like the United Nations! We really enjoy that mix, it keeps ideas fresh and varied, which means better creative results.”
In terms of the type of new client Vivid would like to attract, Paul welcomes businesses large and small: “We are passionate about the link between brand identity and business success, there is no doubt there is a direct correlation. We would love to hear from any business, large or small, that wishes to improve their visual presence both online and offline – whether it be an existing business or a start-up, both have challenges we welcome and can assist with.”
Past projects have included creating the website design and navigation for the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund. Very recently Vivid created the logo, brand identity and website for Tommy Guns hair salon in London – a project that was picked up and featured in Design Week.
So has the move to an office from a shop made a big difference to Vivid? “The office provides far greater opportunity to focus on our work – this can only lead to improved results. It also allows our customers to come and meet with us in a quieter, more professional environment. We found that with the ‘shop’ aspect, customers did not fully appreciate what we were capable of.”
Another aspect customers like is the small team at Vivid. “With just three of us, it makes us a very approachable agency. This includes myself – I am the company director, account manager and creative director with nearly 18 years’ experience in the design industry; Jose is my senior designer and has been with Vivid for five years. He is a great character with a fabulous, unique style that always brings something new to every project. Finally, Paddy, my graphic designer, has been with Vivid for two years. He has a great passion and understanding of typography, page layout but more importantly, how to make some of the most impressive baguette sandwiches you have ever seen!”
