The Table

The Table stars a cantankerous puppet, trapped on the titular furniture. Acutely self-aware, and essentially a stand-up comedian, he introduces his extremely talented operators and deconstructs the rules of puppetry. This is both fascinating and highly entertaining, as we are soon absorbed into the character of a small puppet whose “back-story is a cardboard box” as he attempts to re-enact the last 12 hours of Moses’ life. He’s perturbed when a woman sits at his table, upsetting his performance. A second piece ties in with the first, and brilliantly utilises the four puppeteers’ movements with visual iconography and text to create a living graphic novel. Highly original, unique and definitely worth catching.
