Student, 20, robbed in centre of Brighton
A student has been attacked and robbed of his mobile phone in the centre of Brighton.
The 20-year-old Sri Lankan student was punched several times after three men approached him in Victoria Gardens at about 11.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday (7 May).
The thieves had offered to give the victim directions but they attacked him and stole his Samsung phone and wallet. The wallet had “Formula 1” embossed on it.
He made his way to the Blind Tiger pub where staff helped him and called police.
Detective Constable Ed Downes said: “This was a nasty attack on a man who was enjoying an overnight stay with friends.
“The only description that he was able to provide is that the three were all white, around 18 and all with short brown hair and wearing dark clothing.”
Anyone who saw the incident or who knows or saw the three suspects in the Victoria Gardens area from about 11pm to midnight last Monday is asked to call Sussex Police on 101.
