The Great Escape – Devin

The Brooklyn trio started well with a driving, bluesy 70’s rocker, followed by a punky dancer that saw singer/guitarist Devin screaming out the lyrics over a bouncy bass. However, by the Teenage Kicks inspired third song, the singer’s slightly whiney voice began to grate a little. Only an uplifting chorus saved it from being Bryan Adams goes garage. That said, the crowd lapped up the new single with a sea of bobbing heads. The retro feel continued with the surprisingly good slow glam rock swayer ‘I’m Not A Fool’ but I left feeling I’d heard it all before.
