This take on Berkoff’s tribute to the East End fully justifies this quote and adds irresistible laugh out loud hilarity with the funniest fascist tour de force since Chaplin’s ‘Great Dictator’. Love Berkoff or hate Berkoff bymoonlight’s version of Berkoff’s play is brilliantly performed. You are totally assaulted by violent love and violent hate from the moment it starts. If you think theatre is boring middle class tosh here’s something to change your mind. East is more akin to cinema, it’s the most deeply disturbing horror movie taking you to the edge and beyond and I want all my friends to go see it! I’m giving it 5 skulls, sorry stars!
