And No Birds Sing

The venue has always resembled an orderly Addams family household and James Lloyd Pegg, our engaging narrator, fittingly described taxidermy as the third option in death. With actresses interacting with our group throughout, and birdsong and strings echoing all around, this experience worked well amidst the exhibits.

With dusk descending, the animals appeared to reanimate in the spotlights’ shadows as we were led through the whole building and treated to a mesmerising Russian boat song before being instructed in how to make a mermaid. An inventive use of this magnificent space but the star of the show must remain the museum itself.
