Guy Pratt’s Wake Up Call

Guy Pratt has long been one of the UK’s top session bassists, both live (notably with Pink Floyd) and in the studio (for Madonna, Michael Jackson and many more). Watching him entertain the bar tonight with tales of his touring life, it’s easy to see why. In addition to his instrumental prowess, demonstrated with casual ease several times this evening, he’s fabulously funny company to have around. Alongside his wicked, very English sense of humour, Pratt’s anecdotes contained some glorious physical and vocal impersonations of rock royalty, his full-bodied Keith Richards slapstick deserving particular praise. Top of the pops.
