Events: Foodies Festival

An exciting mix of food, drink and culinary
talent comes to Hove Lawns

Listen up food fans, the Foodies Festival is back and it’s bigger and better than ever, crammed full of culinary delights and exciting events where you can chat to experts in cuisine. There will be cooking demonstrations from Michelin-starred and TV chefs Loyd Grossman, Matt Gillan of The Pass at South Lodge, Michael Bremner of Due South, and Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares star Charita Jones.

You can sample and buy artisan food from over 100 exhibitors, indulge in signature dishes from well-known restaurants and sip summer cocktails shaken up by clever mixologists. New features at this year’s festival include an on-site cook school, Street Food Avenue, showcasing food from around the world and a dedicated Wine Village.

You can also relax with an ice cream on the Foodies sandy city beach and watch the best of British cabaret – including a notorious burlesque food fight in the sumptuous VIP Lounge.
Film fans are set for a unique experience with a pop-up cinema that plays the best food films of all times, serving the meals shown in the movies during their screenings. You can literally indulge in what the stars are tasting, whilst watching the likes of Moonstruck, Goodfellas and Tampopo, expect pizza, pasta and sushi.

There’s plenty of fun for families, where mums and dads can kick back whilst the little ones make sandcastles at the Foodies’ city beaches. Staff will serve from traditional brightly-painted beach huts and bring ice cream, tea, or something a bit stronger, straight to your deckchair. Parents can brush up on their al fresco cookery skills too in classes on how to produce perfect bangers, moist kebabs and beautiful burgers at beach barbecue masterclasses.

On the other side of the festival site are the hilarious food fights, where the over-sevens can get kitted out in special cover-alls before throwing custard pies and gooey cakes at each other in a soft play area. The fights were inspired by the classic children’s film Bugsy Malone, which will be screened at Food of Love Cinema.

Whatever choice of food and drink tickles your taste buds, there’s something for everyone at this appetising festival.
