Iestyn Davies (countertenor) & Richard Egarr (harpsichord )

Can a harpsichord and countertenor bring the house down?
Yes, certainly, with thunderous applause!

Iestyn Davies’ clear and expressive voice, calm and lamenting, furious and sprightly, thrills whether loud or soft. His safety net was Egarr’s completely secure and wonderfully flamboyant accompaniment. Together they took this fiendishly taxing repertoire to the edge, risking and succeeding, even when one devilish passage had to be restarted. The incredibly stylish harpsichord solos were just as illuminating and exciting, enhanced by Egarr’s charming introductions. I thought I knew this music but learnt so much. I can’t wait to hear this electrifying, white-hot partnership again.
