The Last Lunch

The programme notes warned of a complex script structure, and this proved true as we had to decipher multiple conversations with overlapping dialogue making it difficult to follow the thread of the constantly changing plotline.

Taking place during a family lunch of tofu casserole to the extreme consternation of the butcher grandfather, the stereotypical characters unsurprisingly tripped over each other’s lines a few times but the play itself seemed to be trying to cram in too many issues and situations to flow well. The premise was you are what you eat, but I felt this recipe needed a few less ingredients.
