Brighton Frocks Show

Staged in a Grade 1-listed church, the Brighton Frocks Show kicked off BFW 2012 in suitably explosive style with edgy, acid-bright attire and pumping tunes. Who knows what Jesus would’ve made of dirty punk riffs, multi-eyed monsters and flagrantly exposed flesh, but the crowd clearly loved Shara Hayz’s shiny-shorted aliens, Walter Raes’ bike-seat and balloon outfits, and Louise O’Mahoney’s rainbow ballgowns. All the night needed to be truly “counter-cultural” and at “the boundaries of fashion” – as the brochure claimed – were some normal-sized models and less of a skew towards women trotting meat-like down the catwalk in predictably exposing get-up. Enough of the stick-thin, porn-star look; it’s so last millennium.
