The Zombies
Considering the band formed in 1961 its core members, Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone, were in remarkably good nick. From the early days to their well-received new album, each song featured Blunstone’s high-toned voice backed by gorgeous harmonies from the band; and Argent was a revelation with his Brian Auger-like organ and electric piano jazz solos. The ‘Odyssey and Oracle’ section ended with the classic, and still haunting, ‘Time Of The Season’ and while the new songs sounded great it was the hits, including a Heavy Metal Hammond ‘Hold Your Head Up’ and a fresh sounding ‘She’s Not There’, that closed an amazing set.
