Simon Amstell – Numb

Fans of Amstell’s BBC comedy ‘Grandma’s House’ may have been getting the character of ‘Simon’ that he plays mixed up with the real deal, but this new tour shows clearly the sharpness of Simon Amstell in person, with laughs and insights coming painfully fast and intertwined. You can be sure that Amstell has been told on numerous occasions that he is so sharp he’ll cut himself, and that he bears the scars to prove it. This was a true treat for the intellect and the belly laugh, as Amstell’s self-analysis is perfectly framed into the contradiction of egotistical self-deprication. A triumph over cheap gags everywhere.
