Van driver flown to hospital after rush-hour crash on Brighton bypass
A van driver was flown to hospital after a crash on the Brighton bypass during the evening rush hour yesterday (Thursday 7 June).
The 45-year-old man, from Crawley, was on the slip road leaving the A27 for the A23 London road, near Vale Avenue, when the accident happened.
His Ford Transit Connect van and a BMW estate car collided at about 6pm.
He was flown to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious injuries and remains in hospital today (Friday 8 June).
The BMW driver, a 63-year-old man from Reading, was unhurt.
Sussex Police urged anyone who saw the crash or the Ford Transit Connect van shortly before the crash to call 101.
