Come to Where I’m From
This quartet of short theatre pieces presented by the writers – Sue MacLaine, Kefi Chadwick, Fin Kennedy and Judy Upton – was a fascinating look at the deeply personal experiences and places that shaped the performers. As part of Paines Plough’s countrywide project encouraging playwrights to create pieces about their hometowns, Kennedy and MacLaine’s performances shone and Chadwick’s was remarkably candid. Unfortunately, Upton’s piece was performed by a proxy who lacked the panache and cohesion of the others.
Overall, a wonderfully enthralling event, laced with poignancy and humour, that highlighted how fortunate we are to have so many talented writers in Brighton.
