The Merry Wives of Windsor – Players in the Park
To support St Peter & St James Hospice, Players in the Park performed Shakespeare’s merry play with high spirits and great fun, accompanied by stormy rain and wind. The valiant cast projected their voices like King Lear and we could hear every word (except when the awnings overhead rattled too loudly). How actors, costumes and make-up survived the rain must be a mystery of the boards, but they got their lines, the plot and the humour across. The steadfast audience loved it, although everyone was well wrapped up. The refreshment tent was good value too.
