Film: Friends With Kids (15)
Director: Jennifer Westfeldt
The writer of Kissing Jessica Stein is back with a new script and in her directorial debut – AND starring in the vehicle too. No pressure there then. Jennifer Westfeldt stars at Julie who, together with best friend Jason (Party Down and Parks And Recreation’s Adam Scott) decide it’s time to have a baby. However, as the couple are best friends they don’t want to muddy the waters with a romantic relationship or anything, and so decide to go through the whole process platonically. Hmm.
Definitely not a set-up, no siree. The argument the pair make is that they see their friends as what were previously well functioning couples now distorted into something else after the arrival of the little patter of tiny feet. No romance to start with? No romance to lose! With an excellent supporting cast including Chris O’Dowd, Maya Rudolph, Kristin Wiig, John Hamm, Edward Burns and Megan Fox, the buzz around this is it’s a fair comedy, provided you throw away the ending.
Released Fri 29 June
Showing at Odeon and Cineworld
