Matt Whistler has a great realisation!
Somewhere in the middle of walking between the two piers, playing coastal ping-pong in an angular Matrix style, due to heavy winds, and then listening to the brass band playing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ I HAD A GREAT REALISATION for a sketch. It’s called ‘The Ex-Car Mechanic’. He was told by the doctor that he wouldn’t be able to carry on fixing engines due to an arm condition called Stand-back-and-scratch-your-chin-itis.
The mechanic bailed out of his profession and spent a life time gathering crowds and getting his double to perform amazing parkour stunts, like rooftop jumping and leap frogging bollards.
Whenever the Ex-car Mechanic is at a press conference and asked a probing question, he flashbacks to the old car fixing days, then slowly scratches his chin, accompanied by dramatic Psycho music and a long pause He then proceeds to give an Arthur Daily style answer designed to inspire and motivate.
We see him practise at his secret home, by standing on a tin of beans, but due to vertigo he always spins out and collapses on the floor. The only hope of keeping the fraud’s career alive is his stunt double who coincidentally looks identical, and could be his twin brother.
