Portslade woman dies in A27 crash

A Portslade woman died after being hit by a car on the A27 in the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday 1 July).

Sussex Police said that the 42-year-old woman was walking along the road by the Adur flyover when she was hit by an Audi being driven by a 39-year-old woman.

The accident happened on the westbound side of the road by the junction with the A283 Steyning Road shortly after 12.30am.

The pedestrian died at the scene from her injuries.

The A27 was closed for more than three hours between the Hangleton and Portslade junction and the Adur flyover while police and paramedics dealt with the crash.

Witnesses are asked to contact Sussex Police by calling 101.
