Film: The Amazing Spider-Man (12A)

Promising to be a Spider-man film for the comic book fans, Andrew Garfield stars as the arachnically gifted teen in this re-boot of the Marvel comic hero.

Peter Parker lives with his Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field), with love and support but little clue as to why his parents disappeared when he was very young. Determined to find out more, his investigations soon lead him to his father’s former partner Dr Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) and his alter-ego The Lizard. Anyone with a name that starts ‘The’ is well worth being wary of, as Peter discovers rapidly.

Also starring Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker’s original girlfriend in the comic books as celebrated by old school fans. Not to mention featuring turns from Denis Leary, Campbell Scott and C Thomas Howell. Rather fabulous.
