Music: Paddle Around The Pier

Brighton’s best & brightest bands are going paddling!

Apparently the world’s biggest free beach festival, over 50,000 are expected to attend this year’s event which mixes watersports (such as swimming, dinghy sailing, wakeboarding, and lots of paddling!), beach lifestyle and music. It has raised over £100,000 for various charities over the years and is a truly immense effort pulled off by a large team of volunteers. Every year Jen Paddle organises the live music element of the event and once again PATP offers a great opportunity to see some great live music, right on the seafront.

This year you can see the fun hip hop inspired Boycom mixing it up
with the gypsy, ska and folk dance of Wide Eyed Order, the indie pop of The Beautiful Word and the acoustic harmonies of House of Hats, the marvelous nu-folk of Common Tongues and the massive Carnival Collective, a break-beat infused funk, drum’n’bass, Latin, Ska Big Band with horns, vocals and plenty of percussion.

There’s also the Led Zeppelin tribute act Letz Zep, Brighton’s Soul of the City Choir and the Brighton and Hove City Brass Band, indie-rockers Half Hour Hotel and the folk-roots of Zora & the Tatsmiths, the gypsy jazz and folk of Jackson and the High Kickers, plus Angharad, the Madness inspired Buster Shuffle, the acoustic soul of Quackhouse, the good-time soul funk of Sashi, the Wild Beans and the roots rock of Willie & the bandits and the party dub vibes of Fundubmental.
