Glorious!
You’ll be lucky to get seats for this production (on until Saturday 7 July). They are as hot as those for the original Florence Foster Jenkins (portrayed exuberantly by Sue Wicks) at Carnegie Hall. Her cynical, gay accompanist (Tobias Clay) said as much with his expressive eyes and silences as with his withering one-liner stabs, never quite lying about his self-deluded sponsor’s monumental lack of talent and understanding. This cautionary tale of how money corrupts art also tells us how good will, joie de vivre and thunderous applause can overcome ‘the enemy’. It is charmingly presented with true operatic bravura!

Fantastic. So glad you thought so too. There was laughter from the appreciative audience from the first moments til the last few very poignant ones. Choice of music to be performed live and the background tapes was genious. Cast and direction excellent. Very enjoyable.
