The Upbeat Beatles

After a shaky start (clearly a sound-check wasn’t done, it took about 4-5 songs to get a decent mix), the 4 piece really hit their straps. All the gear (amps/ guitars etc) were exact replicas as you would expect. What I especially liked about this lot was the focus on a particular phase of The Beatles’ catalogue (primarily 62-65) which meant the audience didn’t endure the sometimes nauseating costume changes and the band were able to expand the set to include some B-sides and album tracks. I’ll forgive them the formula breakaway finale, the big anthems are what the audience want at the end after all!
