An Afternoon Without Peter Burton

The literary element of the Clifton Montpelier Powis Festival 2012 came to a splendid conclusion with this affectionate and happy memorial to its guiding light, Peter ‘Dame Peggy’ Burton, celebrated author, editor, publisher and CMP literary programmer.

This event was informally presented by Brighton writer Rose Collis and Torsten Højer, the dearest friend of Peter’s last six years. With contributions from distinguished writers Colin Spencer and Patrick Gale, the affectionate reminiscences, passages of his writing and favourite bits of music made this a joyous celebration, tempered only by the unavoidable absence of some other guest speakers and of Peter himself.
