Youths attack ‘good Samaritan’ on Brighton bus
A man was attacked and racially abused on a bus when he challenged four rowdy youths on a bus.
The 23-year-old Indian man was on the number 1 bus in Whitehawk Road, Brighton, when he was attacked at about 4.45pm last Friday (3 August).
The four teenagers were causing a disturbance on the top deck so the victim asked them to stop but they kicked and spat at him and racially abused him.
He called the police and tried to follow his attackers downstairs on the bus.
As he did so, someone stole money from his bag which he had left on his seat.
One of the suspects was described as a boy in his early teens.
He was wearing bright yellow shorts which fade to red at the bottom, a blue t-shirt with 78 on it in large yellow numbers and the words Authentic & Vintage, Athletic Union.
He also had a gold chain around his neck and a blue hoody tied round his waist with the word Gasolina written on it in white curly writing.
Another suspect was also described as a boy in his early teens.
He was wearing a blue t-shirt with 416 on the front in large yellow numbers and the same numbers in smaller type in yellow on the back of the left shoulder. He was also wearing grey jogging bottoms.
PC Russ Prior said: “We are seeking witnesses to these offences and are keen they come forward to help us identify the suspects.
“The victim tried to stop this disturbance as the group were barging into other passengers.
“He is the good Samaritan and ended up being assaulted, racially abused and having his money stolen.”
