Light bites: The Final Foodies leader board

The time of reckoning beckons as we enter the final weeks of voting in the Brighton & Hove Foodies Awards and where else would you find such an array of foodie delights?

So no more hints or clues until winners of the third Brighton & Hove Foodie Awards are announced on 1 October.
Something is afoot in Jubilee Square! Support for The Chilli Pickle has doubled in the last month and now only a handful of votes separate them from Terre à Terre in East Street, just holding onto first place in the Best Restaurant category. Food For Friends has now been pushed back to third place.

Only five votes separate the top three in the Best Food Pub category. The Basketmakers is one vote ahead of The Ginger Pig in Hove Street with The Foragers in Stirling Place only four votes behind. Never has a competition been so fiercely fought between local rivals, with fourth and fifth places rapidly closing in.

In the Best Café category our leaders are fighting hard to retain their places, Iydea remains in first place, Moksha Caffe second and Mange Tout holds third place. But voting for other favourites is on the increase.
For Best Food Shop, Infinity Food holds on to first by the smallest of margins as the good weather gets ice cream lovers out supporting Boho Gelato and barbeques benefit the Brighton Sausage Company in third place.

Said Paula Seager, Managing Director of Natural PR, award organisers: “Voting this month has been quite extraordinary, we have never seen the awards so finely contested. Fourth, fifth and even sixth places in each categories are so close to edging their way on to the leaderboard and we have seen The Chilli Pickle double its support.

“With five weeks to go, this competition is far from over. If your favourite is not on this leaderboard, get voting! It could make a very big difference to who gets the all important invitation to join us as one of the top ten finalists on 1 October.”
