Toots And The Maytals

Toots And The Maytals played to a packed intergenerational house of hot and humid, but happy, reggae fans. They covered all the old favourites as well as throwing in some surprising covers such as ‘Country Roads’, and paced the set well with a mix of up-tempo ska and more chilled numbers. Occasionally there was a loss of energy between songs as the gaps between them were sometimes too long, and the sound was thin; a brass section would have been a welcome addition. But the audience loved it, and by the end of the gig the band were rocking.
