Cirque du Ciel – ShangHi

If you’ve ever thought of running away with the circus, Cirque du Ciel will make you wish you’d done it. The acrobatics they performed in ShangHi were extraordinary – covering everything from tumbling to rings, monkey poles and aerial silks to Mexican hat juggling – and there were numerous jaw-dropping feats, including one performer doing an arabesque on pointe on her partner’s head. The set wasn’t great – often just a white sheet with images projected onto it – and there was a rather confusing story tying the acts together, but the costumes were stunning and the performance incredible.
