Events: Brighton & Hove Food Festival

The 10-day festival of all things tasty & delicious returns for its tenth anniversary

The best of Brighton and Hove’s producers, growers, restaurants, bars and food retailers are again gathering this autumn, bringing foodies all the nosh they could possibly fancy. With lots of free events, dinners, markets, demos and masterclasses, there will certainly be something to satisfy everyone.

The Autumn Harvest food festival kicks off with the centrepiece Big Sussex Market, which features over 80 local growers and producers in the area. The market will have Brighton buzzing on New Road and Jubilee Street, in the heart of the trendy North Laine area.

On the opening weekend the Children’s Food Festival will also run, just up the road at the Brighthelm Centre and gardens, with lots of hands-on, interactive exhibits explaining food waste and recycling alongside the hugely popular food bravery activities for kids, and of course, lots of tasty treats.

The festival finale will be held over the weekend of September 15–16 and includes the free entry Sussex and World Market on Hove Lawns. This year features the Live Food Show, the quirky Sussex Cheese Bowling Championships, the ‘Wobblympics’ and lots more entertainment.

Other festival highlights to look out for include A State Hopp-ing Craft Beer Adventure at the Brewery Tap on 11 September, for an evening tasting eight craft beers from across the USA. Each beer is tasted with a talk about the production, the ethos and the local culture. Also, don’t miss the Sushi and Sake Workshop at Moshi Moshi on 16 September. Make your own sushi whilst sampling sake with the experts.
