Two new artists join the stunning visual line-up at Brighton’s Art At Five gallery
Art At Five is situated in the heart of Brighton and offers a wide and inspiring selection of original work by both established and emerging artists. The gallery’s aim is to make acquiring art an easy and enjoyable experience in a friendly, informal environment.
Art At Five is thrilled to introduce two new artists to the gallery: Liz Chapman and Leslie Whelan. Liz’s unique approach sees her subjects broken down into a riddle of geometry, colour, and repetition. Although not quite pixelated, her fragmented work seamlessly merges into clarity as you step back from the canvas. Her new collection, ‘Anonymous City’, is heavily influenced by her previous career in architecture.
Lesley Whelan became Artist in Residence at Birmingham University’s Botanic Garden in 2003, and this has driven her latest body of work. Lesley uses a technique of bevelling into her materials to accentuate the abstracted shapes and lines within nature. Lesley is fascinated by colour and texture, and incorporates these successfully into her style with striking effect. Collections by both artists are now on show at Art At Five.
